Two particular lines of GE refrigerators, the Arctica and Profile series, had a computer motherboard installed on the back panel of the refrigerator that took the place of parts like the defrost timer. Like many new technological parts, it had its issues and unfortunately failed…quite often. A few of the common problems that may occur with your GE refrigerator if this motherboard has failed are failure to defrost and evaporator fan motor failure. If this board fails then it will have to be replaced. However, check with GE first because it may still be under warranty or may fall under the recall. Again, the board is located on the back side of the refrigerator and the new part does come with installation instructions.
